Gaurav Agarwal (Horny): The nickname doesnt say it all......this guy is one awesome brain. He was one of the few guys to have hit the 90's in his ICSE, and then followed it up with a 98 in his 12th. He's doing Info Tech at Thaddu (Thadomal Shahani College of Engg, Bandra). Way to go Horny !!!
Anurag Bhatia (Rosy): He perpetually had a handkerchief mopping the snot flowing from his nose...thats what I remember most about Anurag.
Aiyush Bhuwalka (Hercules): When we left school, Aiyush was 6'2"......I hear that he's 6'5" now ! He was the Head Leader (the student in charge of maintaining discipline). Still remember him catching Bhavesh Shah and holding him over his head, like a modern-day Bheema.
Ritwik Dahake: Ritwik was and I guess still is a voracious reader. We worked together in the library and enjoyed every bit of it thanks to the amazing guys u come across in the library! He's doing his B.Sc at Xaviers, Bombay. We met up in Feb 99, when he came to Anna to attend a Biotech conference. Frenchie very prominent.....the beard, not the undies !
Rishy Daryanani (Fishy): Fishy's a great guy to get along with. He was a great basketball player in school. Maybe his ball handling skills stemmed from his oversize thumbs!! Just like fish can't stay away from the water, neither can Fishy. He's doing Hotel Management on the exotic isle of Aruba in the "Careeeeebbeeaan". Under great pressure from me, he admitted that he enjoys the beach there.
Gaurav Datay (Terminator): The nickname says it all. Man...when he was bugged, u had to stay out of his way. Great soccer player and athlete too. He holds the school record for the 800 metre race. After his 10th, he went off to Brazil on a Rotary Club Exchange Fellowship....wow...I'm jealous of the guy!
Sahil Dhowan (BGLAT): Gavin Menezes gave him that nickname...expanded it reads "Bhopal Gas Leak and Tragedy". It may not be correct grammatically, but then it's a nickname after all. The guy had bad breath! He used to always sweep the Hindi Elocution Competition. I remember his poem "Bhooke Peit ka Sawaal".
Pratik Goyal (T2, or Koyal): Parteek.....his English was a class by itself. He used to sit next to me and bug me like crazy. If I see him now (after 4 yrs), I bet he'll rip my arse to shreds. Good soccer player, but otherwise he didnt have any other extra-curricular pursuits. His most famous line, which ppl still kid him about........" I want to build my maskals (muscles)".
Akshat Gupta (Prince, or Kuttha): Akshat was Xavier House Prefect. He's also the owner of Metro, the, biggest theater in Bombay; besides a couple of diamond mines in South Africa.....Now I guess u understand why he gets the women. He may have money, but if any one is on the DL, Akshat will always be the first one to look the person up and push up his spirits.
Gaurav Jain (Jaimbia): He used to be a pro at Hangman.....His nickname was given to him in the 6th while we wr playing...what else...Hangman. The place was Zambia .....and after the intial clues he went "Jaimbia". The nickname's stuck.
Vineet Jalan (Jallu ):
Adarsh Jatia : Adarsh is a damn sweet guy..... always the helpful chap. He's studying at the Sheffield University.
Udit Kapoor (Steven): Udit had and I guess still has a damn kool hairstyle. Great fun to get along with.....basically too hyperactive.
Karl Karanjia (Karlos): Son of the great Mr.Nash Karanjia, one of the greatest masters to have taught in Campion. Karl was another hyper dude.....almost like a livewire!
Keith Mascarenhas (Nano/Nanu): Keith is studying somewhere in Canada.
Dhruv and Vidur Mehra: They get a joint mention, coz after all they're TWINS !! Dhruv was the Britto House Prefect, while Vidur was the Games Prefect. Probably the most popular guys in our class; good at both games and their studies. They're studying at Ohio Wesleyan in Ohio, USA.
Puneet Mehta (Stud/Pepsi Boy): Yeah, he was the "right choice, baby!!!!" to be the first kid to model for Pepsi. He did a helluva lot of ads when he was a kid. He's one of the few ppl in class who plays the game hard. Puneet's in Xaviers now. He spends atleast half an hour a week updating me on the Bombay scene!
Rustom Mehta (Whoremuze/Hormuz Bawa): Rustom's a damn nice guy ......no unlike his nickname which was tampered with to sound a bit crazy.
Gavin Menezes (Penny Hardaway/Gay-one): The 1st nickname came about because of his great admiration for the Phoenix Suns guard, while the 2nd one came from the way our Hindi teachers would read out his name on the roll-call. Gavin was damn damn good at basketball, but had this lousy tendency to try and make it his own show. Many a time he succeeded, the rest of the time, well.........."Fick, man !!!!!!" Gavin's doing his B.Sc at Xaviers. He's changed a lot since our 10th, and I almost didnt recognize him when I met him in Jan 2k.
Mustafa Merchant (Mulla/Mullajuwon): When we wr doing Sinhals for our 10th, Gavin was pretty obsessed with Hakeem Olajuwon of the Houston Rockets, and that led to the expansion of Mulla to Mullaojuwon !! Mulla's a damn cute guy. Roly-poly is the word which describes him best. He's a little bundle of enegy. Mulla's doing Chemical Engg at Thaddu (I think)
Rohit Nath (Babu Nagendra Nath/Rohi/Tipsy): Rohit was the toast of the class during Hindi lectures because of his pronounciations! Man they sounded so sexy, I bet they still do ! He was also perpetually in trouble with the teachers cos he hated to cut his hair. In the 5th and 6th he developed a strange liking for his school tie and chewed it up, much to the disgust of many around him. If he gets any tummy trouble in the future, then all of us know where the thing stems from !!! Rohi's doing a degree in Business Management at the U of Texas, Austin.
Kaizaad Panthaky (Kaizu Bawa/ Panty): You remove the "hak" from his surname and u know what u get !!!!! Bindaas chap, no cares in the world. He actually hails from the isle of Trinidad, but he's a Bawa at heart!
Sameer Patker (Bablu): Sammy's the Sachin Tendulkar of our class....cricketer sans pareil. He's trying his best to break into the Bombay Ranji Trophy cricket team. Patker still is damn loyal to his house and to the school, and keeps giving me lectures over ICQ on how I should be more loyal to the school.
Mickhiel Pinto (Jordan): Another basketballer beyond compare. He got that "tongue sticking out pose" straight out of a certain gentleman called Michael Jordan.
Jay Sagar (The organizer): An organizer par excellence, Jay is one crazy dude. I still remember having to give him a blow on his eyebrows which needed a couple of stitches, when we wr in the 4th. Sorry Jay !!!
Bhavesh Shah (Satya Sai/ Shakuni Mama): Bhavesh Shah when i last saw him was just a shade below 5 feet. This despite a helluva a lot of hair like Sai Baba! Rohit Nath thought he was a damn cunning chap and perhaps being inspired by the Mahabharata, gave him the name Shakuni Mama. Bhavesh's doing Chem Engg at Sanghvi Engg College in Andheri, Mumbai.
Kabir Shah (Chachu): Man.....he had a chachu who had breakfast with amitabh bachhan,lunch with rajiv gandhi, tea with narasimha rao, dinner with some other hi-flying dude. All of us still believe that it was a truckload of crap. Kabir's somewhere in the States.
Vinil Shah (Beoda): Yes, he played the role of a drunkard in one of our house plays, and the name has stuck since then! A cricket fanatic, Vinil still keeps track of the cricket back here in India while he pursues his ambition of becoming a doctor. I heard that he's also majoring in Management at UPenn. So here we have a future Christiaan Baarnard and Tom Peters rolled into one !
Abhishek Sharma (Pop): Yeah, he's the Big Daddy of our class- well over 6' and 100 kgs when I last heard. Abu was always the class monitor. He's doing Electrical Engg at VJTI.
Pulkit Singhania (Swami): Beats me as to how that nickname came about, but that's what we call him! I suspect it had something to do with our Geography teacher Miss Goswami !!! Another small packet of energy, Swami could easily slip thru all the defenders and score in basketball ! He's doing his B.Com at HR I think.
Naveen Sunkersett: Damn quiet chap!
Abhishek Suthan (Popes): He could mug up anything and vomit it back at u, and thats why we call him Popat (Marathi for parrot). He had a terrific temper........ He's doing Comps at Georgia Tech .
Sachin Tandon: The so-called baby of our class because his voice still hadnt broken when we wr in the 10th...many parents have suspected that their sons have been receiving calls from their GF, when actually it must have been Sachin on the line! Sachin's doing Computers at Purdue in the USA.
Mayank Tripathi (Chapati): Manku as he's called at home is one of my best buddies. We've kept in touch ever since we left school. He's become a big-time philosopher nowadays, which is a welcome change from the school days. He's metamorphosed, if that's the word, into one of the coolest chaps (according to me) in our class. He's suddenly become fascinated with Rock music, and has given up on all that religious stuff he used to listen to. I can see Mayank's fists itching as he reads this.
Rustom Vajifdar (Aye Vazi): A real bomb, I'd say. Great to have around, with all his wisecracks...after all he's a bawa! Another good basketball player, but he used to pass like crazy unlike Gavin. Vazi's doing his B.Com at HR.
Bhavin Zaveri (BC): Don't ever ask me about the nickname, but it's one of Gavin's concoctions! He even made a rap song about it.......lol hahaha.
